The Kootenay Teen Chef Club Expands To The Northwest Territories
Inspiring Youth in their Culinary Adventures in Northern Canada
Trail and District Chamber of Commerce Vice President Mandi Lunan had the trip of a lifetime representing the Chamber and our Kootenay Teen Chef Club program at the Northwest Territories Culinary Festival on July 26-27-28 in Yellowknife, NWT.
As announced at our awards gala dinner, Mandi and Chamber Executive Director Erika Krest licensed the Kootenay Teen Chef Club Program to the Territorial Agrifood Association as the “Northwest Territories Teen Chef Club” which now operates in 4 NWT communities, including from the Community Greenhouse in Inuvik.
Chamber Vice President Mandi was treated to two days of culinary offerings, tours of local farms and markets, interactions with local and guest Chefs, as well as seeing one of the communities where the NWTTCC operates.
“The Trail and District Chamber of Commerce and I are truly grateful for this exciting partnership which allows us to sow the seeds of agricultural and culinary awareness to young folks in these communities. We thank TTA Executive Director Janet Dean for her passion and belief in our concept. “ – Mandi Lunan
Mandi and the Chamber would like to give an extra special thank you to class of 2023 Kootenay teen Chef club grad Emma Ford for running the clubs booth at the Trail farmers market on Saturday, July 27 as Mandi toured the north.
You did a super job, Emma!
